Robotic Launcher

I will admit, this project has been very on again, off again. I've wanted to do this for a long time, but my aspirations for it have far out paced my ability to both account for all my desires and afford it. The idea is that I would be able to identify a hand in 3D space, and accurately launch something into that hand, without the hand needing to move to actually catch it. Tough task! I wanted to get software down first, and fortunately, that part is, for the most part, complete. Unfortunately I chose a very outdated system called the Xbox Kinect V2. While a great piece of technology, support for it went out 8 years ago! As you can imagine, it has been difficult getting help when I can't get it to work how I want it to. But through a lot of time and failures and successes, I am finally able to identify a hand in 3D space up to about 10 to 20 feet away! This is where I ran into a problem. To get this software to communicate with the mechanical components, I have to use ROS! So, its taken the sideline while I work with the EVC to develop my skills in ROS, so I can comeback and finish what I've started. In the meantime, I find bits of time to continue designing this. Hopefully in the future, and likely next semester, I will have a really cool prototype to show off.
